Telgárt is a beautiful location on the border of national parks. Kráľova Hoľa and other interesting hills for tourists are located nearby. The natural beauty is complemented by impressive technical monuments such as the Telgárt Loop and the Chmaroš Viaduct.
Where is Telgárt?
The picturesque village lies on the eastern edge of the Banská Bystrica region and central Slovakia. The location of Telgárt is perfect for tourists. The village is situated on the border of three national parks of the Slovak Paradise, Muránská Plateau and Low Tatras and offers many diverse natural beauties. It is also known for its technical monuments, including the Chmarošský vidukt.
Tourism
The national parks are only a few kilometres away and offer many hiking trails. Almost everyone can choose between circuits of varying difficulty. The ravines of the Slovak Paradise attract attention, but an equally varied experience is offered by the Sysľovisko Muránská planina, only 15 km away. A popular destination is Kráľova hoľa. You can start the hike directly from Telgárt or drive closer to the trailhead.
Technical monuments
One of the most famous technical monuments is the impressive Chmarošský viaduct. We definitely recommend to at least stop and take a photo. On the train journey, you will pass through the Telgarta Loop. The train on the 2.3 kilometre long spiral overcomes a height difference of 31 metres.
