GIANTS IN PARADISE – Adventure quarry in Spiš

Discover a new unique attraction, OBRI V RAJI (Giants in Paradise), where the legend of giants is combined with the history of miners and the beauty of Slovak Paradise. Near the mountain village of Hnilčík (towards the Grajnár saddle) on the border of Slovak Paradise, a natural area full of experiences for families, tourists, and nature lovers has grown up on the site of an old quarry.

What awaits you here

At OBRI V RAJI, you will be welcomed by two wooden giants created by local woodcarver Adam Bakoš. They will guide you along the themed Giants’ Trail, which includes a panoramic terrace with views of Spiš Castle and Levoča. Younger visitors can let off steam in the fairytale playground with the giant Hnilko. You can also relax with the whole family in the relaxation zone by the landscaped lake and in the cozy The Rock Café. There is free parking for visitors right on the premises. The entire area is also dog-friendly and bike-friendly, so you can safely set out on a bike or with your four-legged friend.

The Journey of Giants – Traveling with a Legend

Have you heard the legends about the giants from paradise who protected miners digging for precious ores? Take a walk along the educational forest trail called Cesta obrov (The Giants’ Trail). You will find eight stops with information boards telling stories about giants from paradise, miners, love, sacrifice, and courage. Each stop brings a new story and symbolically leads you in the footsteps of ancient times. The giants to whom the area is dedicated are not just an attraction – they are a symbolic link between the mining past and nature conservation and the playful discovery of the beauty of Slovak Paradise.

More information for visitors

The OBRI V RAJI adventure park was built for you by LOM Resort (link to website) with the support of the Košice Self-Governing Region from the Terra Incognita grant program. It builds on the stories of our region’s history, making ecological use of a forgotten mining site and transforming it into an adventure park. Admission to the suspended observation deck costs €3 (children under 100 cm tall are admitted free of charge). Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of The Rock Café near the car park. To climb the viewing platform, especially in winter, you will need appropriate equipment, sturdy hiking boots, walking sticks, and, in case of snow cover or icy terrain, hiking crampons. In case of favorable weather, public skating will be organized in the area during the winter, and other attractive events are also being prepared. Follow the Facebook page and Instagram profile of the adventure park and you won’t miss any news.
